Awaiting Easter

Just as by the disobedience of one man
the many were constituted sinners,
so also by the obedience of the one
the many will be constituted just.

...he shall take away the sins of many,
and win pardon for their offenses.

(Romans 5,19, IS. 53,12b)

My People, what have I done to you?
or in what way have I offended you?
Answer me.
What more should I have done and did not do?
I led you out of the land of Egypt, and you prepared a cross for me.
I opened the Red Sea before you, and you opened my side with a lance.
I gave you a royal sceptre, and you gave me a crown of thorns.
With great power I lifted you up, and you have hung me on a cross.
My people, what have I done to you, or in what way have I offended you?
Answer me.

(from the Reproaches of Good Friday)

things I have donce recently that have made me happy... (in no particular order)

made yogurt which I have been enjoying eating with fresh fruit (so easy, so tasty, and so much better than what you buy in the store... )

went to see some of my students perform in their rock band at the coffee shop in town (they were very cute.  I'm sure that a group of 8th grade boys doesn't want their rock band to be called "cute" but they were.  They were also fairly good, and were offered a gig at the bowling alley in Saline.  anyone want to go bowling?)

got out and read my Bible.  sadly it's one of the first things that I let slide when I get busy because  I get to tired to want to think, but I need to work on that.  Time with my God was restoring, relaxing, and good; and it was refreshing to just let God talk while I  listened (or in this case read).

talked to several friends with whom I haven't spoken in some time.  there's not much like talking to good friends, whether it's about what's going right, what's going wrong, or anything and everything inbetween

life has been stressful. and in an attempt to be less stressed, I am going to try to put more emphasis on the little blessings and happy moments in my life.  If one can find happiness in the little things, when big things go wrong... life doesn't seem quite so bad.

student teaching

i think that i may just survive this semester.  perhaps not with all of my sanity. but i will do it.

in other news, i...

--am working to remember to "praise [God] in this storm" (see above song)  when i feel like i'm going crazy, and trying to work on the "be still" part of "be still and know that I am God."
--have more to get done than i know how to get done in normal 24 hour days.
--have made cool new friends that live near me (God has blessed me with incredible friends, both near and far that I am so lucky to have)
--have found people (the aforementioned friends) who like talking about God and other geeky things (not that God is geeky...more that i'm geeky and like talking about geeky things in addition to talking about God, and it's nice to have people who i can be geeky with.)
--am going to an amazing Catholic church that I love
--love the classes that i am teaching at school
--have more books on my "to read for fun" list than i care to even think about (and for fun i mean that i sit down with sticky tabs and mark things as i read and then go back and take notes, and not that i'm reading novels or the like)
--have used more sticky tabs in the books that i have read recently than i care to count (if you remember the craziness of books and sticky tabs from college, my room looks like it did when i was writing my thesis)
--have more that i want to do than i know how to get done in normal 24 hour days
--have had several good conversations with friends that i haven't seen in quite some time
--bought gas for $1.74 when it was really cheap in Adrian a week or so ago
--bought cool new yarn to crochet with  (that was crazy on sale so it was wicked cheap)
--made really yummy vegatible soup for dinner the other day.  mmmmmm......
--am getting my weekly baby fix (i've been babysitting for my cousin and hanging out with friends who have the most adorable little girl). babies are adorable.
--am looking for teaching jobs in cool Christian schools... so if you know of any, let me know....
--am sorry if i haven't talked to you/emailed you recently.  hopefully soon.........
--am not sure quite what i'm going to wear to church tomorrow, but i will figure it out later, because for now i'm going to bed and pretend that sleeping counts as the "be still" part of "be still and know....." becasue i think the only time that i have been still this week has been when I have been alseep.

love you all, g'night.

"And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am.......
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth "

What Catholics Really Believe-Setting the Record Straight: 52 Answers to Common Misconceptions About the Catholic Faith

"I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." Eph 4:1

The Young Life office in Ann Arbor recently received a donation and the following note:

"To Whom It May Concern,

I have a rental property ...  in Ann Arbor currently and previously occupied by some women students at the University of Michigan who are members of Young Life.  This gift is in honor of them because their lives correspond to their beliefs.

Yours truly,

...."

I know these women, and just by living lives the reflected their beliefs they touched the life of their landlord and he was moved to give a donation to support Young Life.  Who knows how many lives will be affected because of that.  Perhaps a student will be able to attend a Young Life retreat that he would have otherwise missed and be introduced to the Gospel for the first time, maybe he will be one of the many students who commit their lives to Christ at the retreat.  Or perhaps the money will go to promote Young Life so that others can hear about it and either support it of attend a themselves.  Maybe the money will go to the salaries of the Young Life staff who dedicate so much of themselves and their time to helping the Young Life leaders share the Gospel with middle and high school students.

You never know whose life you will touch and what the result of it will be.  Every day and every person that you pass by is an chance to show a little picture of Christ by living the life that He calls us to live.    I know that I don't always succeed, and that when I act in ways inconsistent with Christ's teachings that I am being a poor witness, but I try to live the life God has called me to.  You never know who you will meet, or how you will touch their lives....

so whose life have you touched latley?  think about it.
